How to Trust Your Inner Knowing Before Seeing the Proof

Have you ever felt a deep nudge to do something, but you stopped because you couldn’t prove it would work? We live in a world that loves facts, figures, and guarantees. We are taught from a young age to look for evidence before we believe in something. We look to scientists, teachers, and peers to tell us what is real and what is possible.

But what if that is actually backward? What if waiting for proof is the exact thing keeping you stuck?

To truly become excellent at what you do—to really cut through the noise of doubt and fear—you have to do something brave. You have to learn how to trust your inner knowing first, long before the physical world agrees with you.

The Courage to “Just Know”

It takes a lot of courage to listen to yourself. It requires you to rise above the fear of what other people think. You have to be willing to let go of the need for physical evidence for a little while.

Here is the secret: Physical evidence is the result of your conviction, not the cause of it.

If you wait for the world to change before you change your mind, you will be waiting forever. The world around you—the people, the situations, and even the scientific data—is a reflection of your current state of being. If you don’t choose your conviction first, the evidence will never change. You will never read an article that confirms your intuition if you aren’t willing to trust that intuition before the article is written.

Choosing Your Own Reality

This might sound a little crazy, but everything is a bit of an illusion. We often worry, “Am I being delusional?” The truth is, consciousness creates reality. There isn’t just one “solid” world that we all agree on. Everyone is living in a reality shaped by their own beliefs and imaginations.

Since we are all creating our own experiences, you might as well create one that empowers you. You have to be willing to be a little “delusional” in a positive way. You have to dare to believe that you are free and that reality shapes itself around your beliefs.

When you stop worrying about whether something is “true” for everyone else and focus on what is true for you, you start to shape your life effortlessly. You stop fighting against circumstances and start creating them.

Be the Parent, Not the Child

A great way to practice this is to check your confidence. When you walk into a room, who are you looking to for approval?

Many of us walk through life like children, waiting for permission. We wait for an outside authority—a boss, a partner, or society—to tell us we are good enough or smart enough. But to fast-track your growth, you must become the “parent” of your circumstances.

Try this exercise: Imagine you are the most confident person in the room. This isn’t about being arrogant or thinking you are better than others. It is about knowing who you are so deeply that you don’t need anyone else to confirm it. When you operate from this level of self-belief, you stop needing others to agree with you. You realize that your desire to be who you are is all the permission you need. That desire is a signal from your Higher Self.

honoring Your Higher Self

Acting on your inner knowing is actually an act of integrity. If you ignore your intuition because you are afraid of looking silly or because “science hasn’t proven it yet,” you are disrespecting your own potential.

When you trust yourself, you generate happiness and success much faster. You stop waiting for the world to catch up to you. You lead with love, respect, and a rock-solid belief in your own vision. When you do this, you don’t just change your life; you create a little bit of heaven on earth.

Exercise: Be the Most Confident Person in the Room

Try this as a 24-hour experiment.

Wherever you go today, silently choose to be the most confident person in the room. Not in an arrogant way, not in comparison, simply as a posture.

When a decision appears, pause.

  • Take a slow breath.
  • Place a hand on your heart.
  • Ask, “What do I already know about this?”
  • Answer quickly, before the mind builds a long story.

Notice how your body feels when you honor that first clear sense. You may feel more grounded, more relaxed, or more decisive. That is the vibration of you being a creator, not a follower of circumstance.

“If you don’t choose your conviction first, the evidence will not change… You will never read an article that confirms what you intuited because you’re not choosing your intuition before you read about the evidence.” — Bentinho Massaro

Practice: Stop Hunting for Confirmation

Watch how often you delay action until someone else agrees with you, or you read the right article, or a “sign” appears.

For one week, choose one small area of your life – maybe your creative work, health, or spiritual practice. In that area:

  • Let your inner knowing set the direction.
  • Let outer confirmation be a bonus, not a requirement.
  • Take one small action each day that matches what you already feel is right.

You will start to see that everyone lives in their own version of reality, shaped by what they believe. There is no single authority out there holding the final rulebook for your soul.
