Navigating Panic: Finding Clarity Amidst the Storm
Panic – it’s a word that stirs up a whirlwind of emotions in most of us. But, how do you respond energetically when panic arises? How do you view that surge of fear and anxiety?
When we experience panic, what’s truly happening? Is it an external situation triggering our panic, or is it just raw emotion surging from within without any apparent reason?
For many, it feels like an uncontrollable wave of fear that comes from nowhere, leading to thoughts like, “I’m losing my mind.” But why do we respond to these waves of emotion with panic? How is that a beneficial choice? In truth, it isn’t. Panicking doesn’t help; it merely intensifies the feeling of chaos.
Instead of succumbing to the feeling, understand this – every emotion, every thought, every belief is just an appearance. You can always choose to respond differently. If your initial reaction to a situation is negative, it’s never too late to respond differently. As Ben says, “even the ‘oh, there’s intense emotion’ becomes another appearance to which you can respond differently.”
Isn’t it empowering to realize that the observer of panic remains calm? There’s a clarity, a stillness amidst the storm. This perspective shifts the focus from being engulfed by panic to observing it, realizing that you’re not truly bound by it. It makes the experience feel “epic” rather than crippling.
To put it biblically, consider this passage from Psalms 46:10 – “Be still, and know that I am God.” Amidst the tumultuous sea of emotions, find that still point, the observer within, and anchor yourself there.
In essence, always remember that you’re never stuck. Emotions are mere appearances; you are the observer. Stay connected to your true self, and let love and clarity be your guiding light.
“I am clear that I’m confused. That means I am clear, and the appearance is confusing.” – Bentinho Massaro
